Essential Oil Recipes for Babies
It is very important that when you use essential oils on babies or young children, you dilute the oils properly to prevent skin irritation. It is not recommended to ingest oils until about 6 years of age.
Recommended oils for Baby:
Breathe Respiratory Blend—Apply with a carrier oil onto the chest to open airways (for babies, use 1 drop per 1 Tbsp carrier Oil; for adults 1 drop per 1 tsp carrier oil)
Basil—Gently apply on the outside of the ear (NEVER inside the ear), to help relieve earaches.
DigestZen Digestive Blend—Massage clockwise onto an upset tummy or rub on the bottoms of feet.
Roman Chamomile—Soothes irritated skin
Lavender—Calming, relaxing, and soothes irritated skin
Melaleuca—Soothes irritated skin and has strong anti-fungal properties.
Baby Wipes
What You Need:
1 roll premium paper towels (I prefer Bounty)
4 cups boiled water
4 Tbsp castille soap (I like Dr Bonners)
2 Tbsp almond, grapeseed, or avocado oil
2 Tbsp Witch Hazel
1 Tbsp Aloe Vera gel or liquid
12 drops of Vitamin E oil
8 drops Lavender essential oil
8 drops Melaleuca essential oil
8 drops of Frankincense essential oil
An airtight storage container/empty wipe container
Note: Use cloth for reusable wipes.
Directions:
1- Combine all the wet ingredients except for the essential oils in a small bowl.
2- Cut paper towel roll in half (I prefer thirds as they last longer and I don't need the wipe that big) with a serrated or electric knife. You can also fold a full sheet in half and cut 3-4 sheets at a time in half or thirds with scissors).
* Use half the roll now, and half later. I have 2 bathrooms, so I have a container in both and save the 3rd set of wipes for when one starts to get low.
3- Remove and discard the cardboard middle. Just pull the wipes from the center when you are ready to use. Store in container of your choice.
4- When the water mixture has cooled, add the essential oils.
5- Pour the mixture over the paper towels and then cover with the airtight lid letting the mixture absorb for 10 minutes.
6- Turn the container over and let sit for another 10 minutes.
7- If you are using a different container to add the water mixture, you can now place in your wet wipe/airtight container and place where you need them.
Tip: For on-the-go wipes, insert 15-20 wipes into travel size wipe container.
